Choir

The choir of St Mary Magdalen’s is widely regarded as one of the finest parish church choirs outside of London. Established in its current form by Peter Parshall and Judy Martin in 1997, the professional eight-strong choir sings at the High Mass on Sunday mornings, major feasts, and at occasional other services throughout the year. The repertoire is diverse, and ranges from Byrd, Victoria and Manchicourt to Rheinberger, Rubbra and Judith Weir. There is a particular focus on music of the renaissance, and in January 2017, the choir hosted a complete performance within 24 hours of the Latin works of William Byrd, attracting global praise and attention. The annual carol service nearly always fills the church to capacity, even in the snow.

If you are interested in singing at Mary Mags, please contact the Director of Music (Will Dawes). The choir is also available to sing at special services in Oxfordshire.
